What a way to end the weekend!!!

Bedtime Stories with Dad! Favorite part of the day!

My banged up Gracie T!

You know how it is, right? You have a great weekend (like my Auburn Tigers (barely) beating the "bad tigers" as Emma calls them) and then you come home and everything just seems to fall apart! YUCK! Actually, the start of our day was fine...church, Copeland family reunion and picnic at the park AND THEN......it happened! Just when we thought we were going to get the girls fed and settled in for a early night at home everything started going down hill!
Josh was carrying LOTS of stuff in from the car and Gracie was walking beside him. She reached up to grab his hand and he grabbed it and swung her up just a step. Gracie yelled and Josh said he just knew she was hurt! It's one of those things we all do ALL THE TIME and yet this time for some reason it hurt. Gracie was fussing, we were trying to get the girls fed and we were both running around like crazy people! We decided to just watch Gracie for a little bit and see what she was feeling like after dinner. She did eat her dinner but she just seemed kinda off and she wasn't really using the hurt arm. We decided that I would stay home and get the big girls ready and into the bed and Josh would take Gracie to the ER. Not exactly the way we would have chosen to end our fun weekend. :(
Josh and Gracie were gone about 3 hours (Josh was so good to call me with frequent updates) and left without really finding anything out! The ER dr. took some x rays but didn't see anything so he sent them on home with instructions to make an appointment with an Orthopedic surgeon the next day (today) if she was still acting like it was bothering her. We gave her some Motrin and put her to bed (around midnight) and she actually slept all night. What a relief....we were thinking maybe things were starting to look up and maybe she was just sore and tired and therefore fussy!
This morning we let Gracie sleep in-she had a pretty rough night after all. We were hoping that she would be feeling back to her old self but when I went in to get her it was obvious that she was still not wanting to use that arm. BOO! Josh called Dr. Carr, the dr. who did his ACL replacement, and got Gracie an appointment with his partner for this afternoon. A little after lunchtime they headed over to get Gracie checked out one more time! Josh said that the dr. and the nurses were SO good! They were so sweet and kind and gentle with Gracie! You know this momma appreciates that! The dr. didn't really find anything again but he did say he could tell that it was bothering her so he put it in a splint to keep it stable. He wants to check her out again in about two weeks but I gotta tell you I can already tell a huge difference in the way she's acting! I think just having the support of the splint makes her feel much more comfortable because she is already running around like her usual busybody self! So while I hate that my littlest girlie is hurt I am SO thankful that she is feeling better AND that this was such a minor injury! It also makes me SO thankful that I have such happy and healthy little girls...We certainly are BLESSED!
