False Alarm

As you can see it's almost midnight. Everyone is peacefully wiling away the evening when all of the sudden there is quite a commotion coming out of Annie and Emma's room. For those of you who don't know, Annie is quite a sleeptalker. She comes by it naturally. I too have been known to talk in my sleep! This is a little tidbit of what we heard!
Annie: Crap! Crap! Crap! There's crap all over the place!
A few minutes of quiet and then
Annie: "Mom! Dad! Crap! Crap!"
My first thought is "surely I am imagining this. My sweet adorable almost 4 year old girl wouldn't say something like that! And certainly not in her sleep!" My next thought is "how can I blame this on Josh? (in other words not me!)" So, I headed down the hall to make sure I heard what I think I heard! I asked Josh and he confirmed that I did in fact hear my sweet Annie T yell Crap in her sleep!
We decided that we better check on her and make sure that there was not in fact "crap all over the place!" So, we walked into her room and checked her out (Emma is sleeping peacefully through the whole ordeal, thank goodness)! Annie woke up and our conversation went something like this:
Annie: "Mom, what are you doing in here?"
Me: "Just checking you out. You were yelling."
Then, because the best time to discuss appropriate and inappropriate language is in the middle of the night when your child is still half asleep (or not) I said "Annie, crap is really not a very nice word. We shouldn't say that."
Annie (even in her half asleep state) looks at me and says "Crabs, mom. I dreamed that there were crabs all over me!" Like, wow mom you are such a dummy!
Oh my sweet Annie T! I got a good little giggle, kissed her on the cheek and she was totally out by the time I closed the door!
Guess I better be a little more careful about what I say when all of those little "listening ears" are hanging around!

Our own little sweet potato queen!

Gracie has been eating "real food" for a little while now. She really is a great eater and rarely fusses or spits anything out! Of course she makes messes but nothing too bad! Most of the time I just mash up a little bit of whatever we're having to give her! No dealing with babyfood around this house. I'm not sure if that makes me frugal or just lazy but it is what it is! Anyway, some of Gracie's favorites are corn, green beans, any kind of potato, baked beans, tomato, grits and sweet potatos! These are some sweet potato pics....She didn't fuss about it eating them but she sure did make a funny face and end up wearing a whole lot of them! So cute!

Bowling Prodigy

Ok....so I know a Wii is not that new or exciting to most of y'all but we just got one! We didn't even think we would really like one (well at least I didn't...I'm kind of aniti video game) until some friends of ours got one a month or so ago! So the Jones family is to blame for turning us into Wii junkies! We have been playing with them and having so much fun so I finally broke down and Josh got one for his birthday! We have been having so much fun!
Today, the girls and Josh and I were just hanging out and Annie wanted to play on the Wii. We have been hula hooping like crazy (hopefully no one gets hula hoop hip-thanks valerie for the official terminology!) but today Annie wanted to try bowling!
Can I just tell you that after a few minutes she totally got the hang of it and did AWESOME! She even scored higher than her mom! Hilarious! Now not only do Josh and I fight over the Wii but Annie has joined the mix! (Just kidding...there's no fighting over the Wii....yet!)
Pictures to follow of my little bowling prodigy in action!

Our short (but sweet) visit to the loveliest village on the plains!

This weekend we loaded up the car and headed to Auburn/Opelika for the weekend. Well, really just for Friday night and Saturday but anyway! We got there around dinner time on Friday and met Chris and Megan for a quick bite at Jim Bob's. YUM! The girls were WILD! Sweet but ALL over the place but Chris and Megan were sweet and took it all in stride! After dinner we headed over to the DQ for an icecream cone before meeting Josh's mom and Becca and Walker at Angie's to settle in for the night. How funny is this?!?! While we were at DQ we ran into Josh's high school English teacher and his wife so they got to meet our sweet girls! Josh was such a proud papa (as he should be)! AND when we got to Dave and Angie's Josh had a facebook message from an old neigbor asking if she had "maybe seen him in the DQ parking lot when she was driving through"! HILARIOUS! I hardly ever see people I know when I go back to Chattanooga. I guess things are different in a small(ish) town!
We got back to Angie and Dave's and tried to get everyone settled in for the night! The girls all crammed into Cary's room and went to bed pretty quickly and without too much fuss! They did try on quite a few pairs of Cary's shoes before heading to bed! A love of shoes must be something girls are born with! And the higher the heel the better! Emma was hilarious!
This morning, the girls and Walker were up bright and early...BOO! No rest for the weary! We got up and got ready and then headed to Mema's to spend the morning visiting with her! The kids were good but they were SO exhausted and Mema's apartment (?) is not exactly the BEST place for kids! We stayed and visited awhile but we were more activity than Mema is used to and I think we wore her out! (We've been known to do that!) After our visit we loaded up and headed to lunch at Chick fil a with Grandma and Aunt Becca and Walker. The kids played on the playground and were able to release a little of that pent up energy! Grandma headed home after lunch but the rest of us decided to wander around campus for awhile and just see what was new! Such fun! I love going to Auburn with Josh and the girls and showing them all of the places that they've heard about...places with such fun memories for Josh and me! We showed them Wittel and Toomer Street and ACF...all of the places that Mommy lived while she was at Auburn! AND maybe most importantly we showed them Jordan Hare stadium where their beloved Auburn Tigers play football! Annnie wanted to go and watch Uncle Daniel play for Auburn! I told her we ALL wanted to see that!:)
After our stroll around campus (SO MUCH has changed!) with 4 super tired kiddos we decided to go play on the playground @ Hickory Dickory Park! YAY! Our plans were thwarted however because by the time we got there all 4 kids were fast asleep! Oh well. We tried! So instead of playing we ran and got a quick dinner at Chuck's BBQ! Again so yummy!! And yet another memory for Mom and Dad (Josh worked at Chuck's while we were in school)! After dinner we all headed home to sleep in our own beds tonight! Always a nice feeling!
So even so our visit was short we really had a GREAT time hanging out with family and sharing some fun memories with our girls! It won't be long before we're loading them up for their first semester at Auburn! War Eagle!

SONROCK Kids Camp!

Last week Annie went to VBS at our new church! She had a great time! They did SONROCK Kids Camp and it seemed like they had a blast. She got to ride to Bible School with Grace and Elyse and Sophie-you have no idea what a thrill that is to a 3 year old! (Emma was happy too because Anna stayed and played with her a few days!)Each day she came home singing the songs and talking about her Bible story and the new friends she made! I am so glad she had such a good time-especially since this was her second VBS of the summer! The pics are from the end of the week program...Annie's class sang "My God is so BIG" and "5 Little Speckled Frogs" They were adorable!

When the cat's away the mice will play...dressup?

So, like I mentioned before Josh and I went out tonight with Julie Anne and Chris to celebrate Josh's birthday...FUN! We had a great time and the girls had a great time with Samantha. When Josh and I got home all three girls were in bed asleep! Samantha must be supernanny or something :) So, after Samantha headed home we peeped in to check on all of our sleeping beauties! Boy, did we get a shock! The girls had obviously played somekind of pajama scramble! Annie was wearing Gracie's gown. Emma was wearing Annie's elephant jams and Gracie was wearing her clothes! Silly girls! As for Josh and I, we're no dummies! We'll just let those sleeping dogs...uh, girls...lie! :)

Happy Birthday Josh!

Today is Josh's birthday! YAY! We had a pretty fun day if I do say so myself! The girls and I made purple cupcakes with pink icing to celebrate (you know you're a father of three girls when you get purple and pink cupcakes to celebrate your birthday)! Tonight we fed the girls dinner and then headed out to meet Julie Anne and Chris for dinner and a movie (The Shamrock and Harry Potter #6...yay)!A perfect combo! All in all a pretty good day!
SO, Happy Birthday to the best husband and father around! We are so lucky to have you and appreciate all that you do for us everyday! We love you LOTS!

Better keep an eye on this girl!

As you all know, we have been at the beach for the last week or so. YAY! One bad thing about not being at home is that your stuff is just kind of all over the place. This is true for clothes, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste etc. So all of our tolietries were just in a ziploc bag in the bathroom. Not such a good idea with 3 little curious girls running around! So Annie and Emma were upstairs watching a movie and Josh walked in to find chunks of deodorant all over the room! YIKES! Upon further inspection we decided that Emma had been playing in the deodorant. We didn't see any teeth marks but Annie kept saying that Emma had eaten it! Again, YIKES!! So we called poison control. Get this. They asked us what kind of deodorant it was and of course we told them. Then the lady asked if she choked. We said no. They said she'll be fine then! How wild....the only thing they were concerned about is whether she choked on the deodorant she might have eaten! Hilarious! Also, hilarious was the fact that when we told Annie that Emma might have to go to the hospital if she ate deodorant, Annie was like "Yeah, she definitely ate it!" Annie was SO excited about the possibility that Emma might have to go to the hospital!
Also, just fyi: Emma is totally ok and we really don't think she ate any of the deodorant (just made a MAJOR mess with it!). This is just typical Emma. We are definitely going to keep an eye on her!

Can't we just move to the beach?!?!?

Ok... so the Thompson family is now back to reality. Boo! We came home from 12 super days at the beach yesterday. We had such a great time and got to visit with lots of fun family! We got to the beach on Wednesday and Grandmother was there waiting for us. The girls were so excited to see Grandmother AND to be at the beach...almost too much to handle. On Thursday, Gleigh and Bo and Uncle Daniel and Daniel's friend Jamal got there. We had lots of fun swimming, building sand castles, riding on the kayaks, walking on the beach, swinging and just hanging out! On Friday Billie and Bob and Liam came and on Saturday Aunt Donna, Uncle Bill and Elizabeth came to celebrate the 4th! The boys went deep sea fishing and rode bikes and even kayaked to the fort. Daniel and Jamal even found a beach football game to join!
We had such a great time just hanging out and relaxing! The weather was great, the water was beautiful and the company was good! Such fun! This weekend (when everyone else was gone) Becca and Matt and Walker came down to visit. It was a short visit but a fun one! The girls and I have been reading "Pinkalicious" the last couple of weeks so we made pink cupcakes (well green cupcakes with pink icing) to help celebrate Aunt Becca's birthday on Sunday! All in all we had a super time at the beach and were so sad to leave! In fact as we were driving away on Sunday I looked back and my sweet Annie had big tears rolling down her face (my other sweet girls were asleep!). I asked Annie what was wrong and she said she was "just sad to leave grandmother's beach!" She is just like her momma! But leave we must :( Boo! We had a pretty easy ride home and stopped in Opelika long enough to vist with Grandma and Mema and grab a quick bite to eat! I am already looking for a time for us to go back. I know we will be back at the end of August for Liam and Anna's wedding but hoprfully we can sneak in one more visit before school starts!

BEACH BABES!!!!

Ok...so we FINALLY made it to the beach! We left home relatively early this morning-after the purchase of two new tires....why can't anything in life be simple?!?!-and headed out to Ft. Morgan. We knew this would be a LONG day for our three sweet girlies so we planned to just take our time and stop when needed. Our first stop was in Auburn-yay!-for lunch with Megan! Thanks Megan for taking time to hang with this crazy bunch during your lunch hour. I'm sure it wasn't the most relaxing lunch ever but it sure was an adventure! After our lunch and quick visit with Megan we crawled back into the car and were on our way! After a short (45 minute or so) nap we had reached our next destination-Preister's Pecans. YUM. We stopped and sampled the pecan treats and watched then make candy and of course had some icecream before hitting the road again! Thankfully we only had to make one more stop-this time a potty break-before pulling up at the beach house!
The girls were so excited to be at THE BEACH!!! They could hardly stand it. Even though they have been coming to "grandmother's beach" since they were tiny they were so excited you would have thought it was all brand new! They raced upstairs-well Annie raced, Emma dawdled and Gracie of course was carried-to give grandmother a quick squeeze (she had beaten us here even though she left quite a bit later...not fair!) and headed for the sand. Annie could hardly wait to get her toes in the water...well, it started out as her toes and then progressed from there (check out the pics!). Emma was not at all interested in the water...only in making a sand castle :) She is her mama's girl in that respect! Can't wait for tomorrow, our first FULL day at the beach and the arrival of GLeigh and Bo and Uncle Daniel!

Annie's funny quote of the day:
"Mom, I don't want to get my head under (the water) because there are sea creatures in there and they might bite my face off!"
Gotta love it!
