Today Emma had her follow up appointment with the eye Dr. Earlier this year our pediatrician noticed that her left eye was trailing just a tiny bit. She didn't feel like it was anything serious but she did want us to get it checked out further. We went to see the eye Dr. (we have one who is great with kids if anybody around here needs one) and she confirmed our pediatricians suspicions....Emma's left eye was trailing some. She wasn't really concerned but she did want to treat it rather than just leave it alone and risk it getting worse. So for the last 8 weeks or so we have been patching Emma's eye (alternating eyes each day) for between 2 and 3 hours each day to hopefully correct the problem.
We were hoping that today was the day that the eye patches would bite the dust BUT it looks like my little pirate will be sticking around a little longer. The Dr. said Emma's eye had made GREAT progress....things today were much better than last time (8 weeks ago)! YAY! That we were almost at 100%! YAY again! BUT that she wanted us to continue patching for another 8 weeks or so for only 1 hour a day to hopefully wean her off of the patches all together by Dec. She said that sometimes when you just totally take away the patches there is regression and hopefully continuing with the patches will prevent the regression and leave us patch free FOREVER after December.
SO a little more patching and a little more playing pirate around this house....looks like Emma will be a pirate pro by the time baby Jack gets here in a few weeks!
***Just a funny aside about my ET! Today at the dr.'s office she wore a tiedyed t shirt with a big smiley face on it that my dad brought her from Washington D.C. when he took Matthew to school a couple of weeks ago. The nurse told Emma she really liked her t-shirt and Emma said "Thanks! It's from BO and George Washington!" Well, she was mostly right! Gotta love that silly Emma T.****
