Like I mentioned last time, we've been hanging out in Chattanooga for the past several days. This week is Riverbend....the annual music festival/drunk fest down by the river (hence the name). For those of you not familiar think loud music, tons of drunks and teenagers in every fashion of dress (and undress) imaginable. Fun but a little scary at the same time. So every year on Tuesday night during Riverbend week they have a Faith and Family night (no alcohol but still tons of rednecks and teenagers in every fashion of dress (yes, and undress) imaginable). We got really brave and decided that the whole Thompson clan (remember that includes mom and dad and three girls ages 3, 2 and 6 months) plus Bo (Gleigh was in D.C.) would venture out to see Steven Curtis Chapman and enjoy the sights and sounds of Riverbend. Now, I know you are reading this and thinking "These people are NUTS! Why would anyone take that many children at those ages into a crowd like that!" The potential for meltdown was enormous! But suprisingly all three girls did GREAT!
We got there and did the typical 5 times (at least) around the block trying to find a parking spot. When we finally did we all piled out of the car. Annie alternated between walking and riding on her dad's shoulders and Emma and Gracie strapped in the double stroller and away we went! We only had to walk a few blocks until we were right in the thick of things! We made our way over tot he playground and let the big girls run around for a little bit.....with like 12,000 other children! We had to divide and conquer-each adult chasing a child! After a little while the girls decided they were thirsty so Bo took the big girls off in search of a drink. They came back with a frozen lemonade and purple straw each (some of you may not understand what a big deal it is that each girl had a PURPLE straw but Bo having been around the block a time or two realized that one purple straw and one blue straw was a disater waiting to happen!) Finally, with our thrist queched we were able to sit and enjoy a little music. It really was good and the girls just kind of danced around where we were sitting. After a little while we started making our way back to the car but not before stopping for a blue raspberry italian ice...YUM! Alll in all a really good night with three really well behaved girls!
